Boko Haram is Anti-Islam:There Is No Compulsion In Islam–Muslim Group

Boko Haram is Anti-Islam:There Is No Compulsion In Islam--Muslim Group

The University of Ibadan Muslim Graduates’ Association (UIMGA) has joined other Nigerians on the call for unconditional release of the abducted Chibok school girls in Borno state.
The association stated that such action and other nefarious activities perpetrated by the group are not supported by Islam in anyway.

In a statement jointly signed by its President, Dr. Saka Adewumi and the Public Relations Officer, Mallam Fasasi Abdullah, the group said: “As it is well known even by non-Muslims that Islam connotes peace, therefore all manners of terrorism, gangsterism and hooliganism are condemned by the religion. Our association has at different fora, symposia and conferences condemned such acts.”
“It is equally expedient to state unequivocally here that there is no compulsion in Islam. This is clearly stated in the Holy Quran 2 verse 256. So, under no circumstances is any Muslim encouraged to compel any other person to worship Allah.”
Empathizing with the parents of the abducted school girls, the group said it would support all efforts by the federal government towards securing the freedom of the schoolgirls.
