Abia INEC Commissioner In EFCC Net For N20m Bribe

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has detained the Resident Electoral Commissioner of Abia State, Mr. Sylvester Ezeani, for his alleged role in the N23bn ($115m) that was disbursed by a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, during the build-up to the 2015 presidential election.
According to the EFCC, the suspect allegedly received N20m out of N241m while he was the REC in Cross River State during the March 28 presidential and National Assembly elections.

Teenagers attack school, beat principal, steal N1.5m


Pandemonium broke out at the Lagooz Schools on Omotoye Estate in the Orile Agege area of Lagos State after some hoodlums invaded the school premises.
PUNCH Metro learnt that some Hausa teenagers, numbering about 100, stormed the school with machetes and other weapons.
They were said to have attacked the school’s principal and a teacher, identified as Uncle John, during a free-for-all which lasted for about two hours.
Our correspondent was told that the rampaging youths, aside damaging some property of the school, allegedly made away with N1.5m.

According to Chronicle, Rudolph Chipare (30) allegedly raped the 20-year-old maid at knife point after his wife left for work. Information gathered revealed that the alleged r*pe began on June 8 and ended when the woman gathered strength and notified her cousin who reported the matter to the police. 

When he was arrested, a medical examination was conducted and it revealed that the woman was pregnant. Chipare is remanded in custody and will appear before regional magistrate Mr Mark Dzira facing 19 counts of rape on August 11. Prosecutor Mr Tinashe Dzipe alleged that on June 8 at around 6PM, Chipare ordered the woman to accompany him to a “new house” so she could clean it.

OPC Comes For Niger Delta militants


OPC issued the threat while reacting to recent attacks by suspected militants on Imusin and Ogijo in Ogun and some riverine communities in Ikorodu area of Lagos State.
The group in a statement by Comrade Dare Adesope entitled, ‘‘Incursion of Ijaw militants into Yoruba land: Enough is enough,’’ threatened reprisal attack if the suspected Ijaw militants failed to end the incursion into the South-West at the end of the ultimatum.
According to the group, the attack in the South-West was an affront on the Yoruba nation and it would not be accepted.

Former footballer jailed for 15 years after turning to armed robbery

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, yesterday detained the Abia State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Sylvester Ezeani, for allegedly collecting N20 million cash gift from former Minister of Petroleum resources, Dieziani Alison Madueke.

EFCC operatives believe the money was handed over to Ezeani while he was the resident Officer in Cross Rivers state to influence the outcome of the 2015 Presidential election in favour of PDP.

How married woman died in hotel – Residents


Neighbours of a woman, who died last Friday in a hotel in Ikotun, Lagos State, have opened up on what transpired shortly before her death.

They said the deceased, who was identified only as Iya Ginika, had left home around 9pm on the day, telling her husband that she wanted to visit a friend in the neighbourhood.

The residents told our correspondent on Tuesday that the woman, in her 50s, had claimed that she wanted to collect something from the friend.
