Navy Admiral Found Dead In His Lagos Home


The Fleet Commander, Western Naval Command (WNC) Rear Admiral Daniel Ikoli was Wednesday found dead at his Apapa, Lagos residence.

Ikoli, who was Commander, Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) BEECROFT and later appointed into the presidential committee on the probe of arms deal, was said to have been found in a pool of his blood.

It was gathered that the senior officer left the office on Tuesday afternoon after complaining he wasn’t feeling too well.

Fire engulfs Kano International Airport


Fire on Wednesday morning engulfed the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano state. The report says a mysterious fire gutted the airport's fuel drop.

The fuel drop is located few distance from the domestic arrival hall adjacent a vast space that houses corner shops. An eyewitness named Hajiya Bintu said the fire started around 7.45am and forced dwellers to flee the area.

She said:”The fire has raged for twenty minutes now and as I speak to you fire service personnel have deployed enough tanks to contain the emergency.”

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday, arraigned a former Kwara Hotel boss, Mohammad Gobir, alongside Mondial Defense Systems Limited before Justice J.E. Oyefeso of the Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja on a five-count-charge bordering on conspiracy, stealing and forgery to the tune of N277 million.
The accused allegedly converted the money meant for the purchase of security bands for Kwara State government to personal use.

The fourth defendant in the ongoing N24 billion police pension scam trial, Veronica Onyegbula, told the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) that she made $544,000 from sales of pure water, an FCT High Court heard.

Five suspected oil thieves are currently undergoing investigation at the Port Harcourt Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for dealing in petroleum products suspected to be Automated Gas Oil (AGO).

The Italian government on Tuesday deported 40 Nigerians for immigration and criminal offences.
