490 stranded Nigerians evacuated from Libya


The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Geoffrey Onyeama, on Sunday in Port Harcourt said that the Federal Government would rehabilitate and empower 490 Nigerians evacuated from Libya.

Tailor commits suicide after husband sends her out of their home


A young woman, has reportedly taken her own life after an issue with her husband.

According to reports, the said woman, a tailor by profession committed suicide at No 4, Adebiayae street, Yaba, Lagos, after her husband kicked her out of their matrimonial home.
Reports have it that the woman and her kids had been sleeping in her shop situated in Yaba, for many days, before her dead body was discovered this morning. 

Her corpse has since been evacuated by some police officers.

Father, uncle allegedly rape daughter, 16, for four years


A father, Segun Durojaiye, and his brother, Emmanuel Durojaiye, who allegedly raped his 16-year-old daughter for four years were on Monday charged with incest before a Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos State.

Segun, 52, who resides at Baba-Benja Street, and Emmanuel, 44, of No. 10, Durojaiye St., all in Oreyo area of Ikorodu, Lagos State, are facing a charge of defilement.

Man gets 21 years jail term for abducting four-year-old albino boy


A  Court in Malawi on Monday sentenced a man who kidnapped a four-year-old albino boy in absentia to 21 years in prison.

The court in the Southern City of Zomba handed sentenced Jafali Ligomba, even though he is still at large and the child is yet to be found, in the hopes that the punishment would be a deterrent to others.

Ex-VP Atiku Atiku threatens to sue NEF chief Paul Unongo for libel


A former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, on Monday threanted to sue a leader of the Northern Elders Forum, Paul Unongo, for accusing him of being a financier of the Miyetti Allah, an association of cattle breeders.

Atiku issued this threat in a letter by his lawyer, Mahmud Magaji (SAN), asking Unongo to retract “the blatant and malicious falsehood” within seven days.

Court Sentences Six men to death over 1971 Crimes


A special court in Bangladesh on Wednesday sentenced six men, including a former lawmaker, to death for crimes committed during the country’s 1971 war of independence with Pakistan.

The war crimes tribunal in Dhaka handed down the sentences against Abu-Saleh Aziz, the former member of parliament from the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami party, and five others for mass killings, arson attacks and looting during the nine-month armed struggle.

Four major banks in Nigeria have barred their customers from making use of their debit and credit cards to withdraw dollars, euros, pounds and other foreign currencies whenever they travel out of Nigeria.
