Six teenagers arrested for looting Savannah bank

Six young men were yesterday arrested by a team of anti- robbery policemen team attached to Area A Police Command, Lion Building around 8: 30 am, while they were looting properties from Savannah bank, at Broad Street, in Lagos Island.
An eye witness, who witnessed the incident told Saturday Vanguard that he observed that the arrested armed robbers were all teenagers between the ages of 18 to 20.
Some residents of the area who gathered at the crime scene identified some of the boys, saying that they had been tormenting residents of the area for a very long time.
They commended the Area Commander, Imohimi Edgal for the quick response of the policemen and the reduction of crime in the area.
Saturday Vanguard gathered that the suspects whose names were Ibrahim Luka, Kunle Malik, Sheriff Lawal , Tnde Basiru, Arif Sarumi, Lukman Ojikutu and Fidelis Joshua have been carrying out the dastardly act for a long time before the policemen were alerted following a tip-off from residents.
Some of the suspects,who tried to escape by attacking the policemen with cutlasses were shot in the leg by the policemen who were led by one Sargent Mohammed Akeem.
It was learnt that items recovered from the robbers included three cutlasses, one iron bar,one iron saw, and some quantities of cables. They were taken to Area A Command for interrogation and have been making useful statement to the police.
“Distress call was received from Ikeja control room that some armed robbers were operating at Savannah Bank, Broad Street The policemen stormed the area and these boys were arrested’ said a police source”
