Jose Mourinho may have said Frank Lampard is an irreplaceable figure at Chelsea, but the midfielder’s no.8 shirt has already been passed on, with Oscar the lucky recipient.
Lampard’s shirt has been vacant for just a couple of months but Chelsea today announced Brazilian international Oscar would move from the no.11 shirt to take the no.8 for the new campaign.
Oscar’s 11, meanwhile, returns to Didier Drogba.
‘I am very pleased to be able to return to the number 11 shirt and I am very grateful to Oscar for allowing me to make this change,’ Drogba told the Chelsea website.
While Oscar added: ‘Didier is a Chelsea legend and a senior player. I am happy for him to take the 11 and for me to take the 8. Lamps is another legend at this club and I hope I will be as successful in the shirt as he was.’
The Blues are offering an exchange to fans who have already purchased ‘Oscar 11’ or ‘Drogba 15’ shirts this summer.
