Chelsea have made it clear that they want to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid in January and have already set aside £60million to make the deal happen.
Ronaldo is looking increasingly likely to depart Madrid in the new year with his agent ready to take him away from the Spanish giants – after falling out with them during a row over transfers.
And while Manchester United are keen on re-signing the Portuguese superstar, the Daily Express says Chelsea have now emerged as shock contenders to grab him.
It’s claimed that they’ve already set £60million aside from their budget to capture the player, while they could also beat his current wage demands.
The key to any deal is Jose Mourinho, who reportedly enjoys a great relationship with Ronaldo from when the pair worked together at Madrid.
He is thought to be driving the deal, and Chelsea are hopeful of doing business.
