Residents flee as Boko Haram attacks Yobe community

Residents of Dapch, headquarters of Bursari local government area of Yobe state, fled on Monday after suspected Boko Haram members attacked the community.
Those who fled sought refuge in the bush.
Abdulmalik Sumonu, commissioner of police, confirmed the attack on Monday.
“At about 5:30pm today suspected insurgents attacked Dapchi, headquarters of Bursari local government area,” NAN quoted him to have said.
“The details are not immediately available, we are still collating the details including the casualties.”
The commissioner said security operatives have been reinforced in the area.
Zanna Abatcha, chairman Bursari local government council, told NAN that the insurgents have already left the town and more security operatives had been deployed.
“The details are not known yet because it’s already night, we will get the comprehensive details tomorrow,” he said.
Efforts to put Boko Haram in check have not yielded the desired result as the sect carries out operations in some communities in the north-east.
On Monday, a teenage suicide bomber was shot dead around the University of Maiduguri.
