Arsenal open talks over Nastasic and Vlaar deals

Arsenal have held talks with Manchester City over Matija Nastasic and Aston Villa for Ron Vlaar as they look to add another centre back to their ranks.

The Gunners have made signing another centre half their top priority in the final hours of the transfer deadline, and they have now made their moves.

According to the Guardian, an approach has gone in for City’s out-of-favour Serbian defender Nastasic, who is also wanted by Tottenham.

But with that deal tricky, the Daily Mail says talks have been undertaken with Villa over their powerful Dutch centre back Vlaar.

Southampton and Inter Milan have also been linked with Vlaar, but Arsenal are believed to be ahead in the race.

Both players would cost in excess of £10million to sign, and Arsenal are prepared to leave it late before deciding which one to bring in.
