NFA dismisses Singaporean’s match-fixing claim


The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has dismissed the claim by a Singaporean, Wilson Perumal, that he helped Nigeria qualify for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

A statement from NFF’s Assistant Director (Communications), Ademola Olajire, on Tuesday in Abuja said Perumal’s claim was nothing more than “distinct fiction by a self-confessed and convicted Singaporean match-fixer”.

Sterling receives lifetime ban $2.5 million fine

 
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver held a press conference on Tuesday to address the leaked audio recording of Clippers owner Donald Sterling's racist remarks, and has officially banned Sterling from the NBA. Details of the ban are included below:

A family was left outraged after a woman gave her teenage daughter to a man for sex.

The woman of Zimbabwe, was accused of allowing her neighbour to rape her daughter in exchange for 22 pounds of sugar.

The woman, 54, even handed the rapist a blanket so he is comfortable while raping her daughter.

Nollywood pays respect as Amaka Igwe passes on

On Monday night, Nigerian film-maker and Nollywood icon, Amaka Igwe died in an Enugu hospital. She was 51 years old at the time of her death. She was doing pre-production preparations for a new Igbo soap opera in Enugu when she suffered an asthma attack and was immediately rushed to the hospital. She finally passed on after several interventions to resuscitate her failed.  She was in the company of her husband when she died.

Abducted schoolgirls allegedly married off for N2,000, moved abroad

Most of the 234 Borno schoolgirls in Boko Haram captivity, according to a report on DailyTrust, have allegedly been ferried abroad to Chad and Cameroon after they were married off to sect members on N2,000 bride price each.

The female students were taken from their hostels at the Government Girls Secondary School Chibok on the night of April 14. About 40 had escaped in the days after the incident, but parents and school authorities said at least 234 of them were yet to be found.
