A Jos Chief Magistrates’ Court has sentenced a 21-year-old man, Mohammed Ahmed, who impersonated an army man.

Chief Magistrate Jovita Binjin sentenced Ahmed to six months imprisonment following his guilty plea. Binjin, however, gave the convict a fine of N5,000, and hoped that the sentence would serve as a deterrent to others.

The Ogun state police command has arrested two men who specialised in car snatching across Ogun state. The two, Damilola Omolegbe and Saidi Asirikoko were arrested at oko ape area of igbogila on Friday 8th of December 2017.

One of the suspects, Damilola Omolegbe contacted one Abimbola Olaore, a driver of Toyota Camry with registration number KJA 164 EX in order to hire his vehicle from Alimoso in Lagos to Igbogila on an agreed fee. On getting to oko ape area, he asked the driver to stop for him to ease himself only for two other men to emerge from the bush with dangerous weapons and tied him with rope after beaten him severely and dispossessed him of his car.

Nearly 900 migrants rescued off Libya arrive in Italy


Sicily on Monday welcomed nearly 900 migrants rescued in Mediterranean waters off the coast of Libya in the past few days, with many expressing relief at having escaped the “Libyan hell”.

More than 330 migrants rescued by Italian coast guard and other European vessels have already disembarked at Sicilian ports, Italian media reported.

Detectives attached to the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a father of five, Kingsley Oriakwu, for allegedly selling two of his children and his landlord’s son, NewTelegraph has reported. He sold the three children for N310,000.
 
Oriakwu was alleged to have abducted his landlord’s seven-year-old son, Gabriel, and sold him to a woman residing in Aba, Abia State. The suspect, who lives at Waheed Ogunseye Street, Kabowe, Meiran area of Lagos State, was also said to have lured the boy away from home and abducted him on October 20.
