President's Son Jailed in France, His 100 Million Euros Worth of Assets Confiscated


A French court on Friday found the son of Equatorial Guinea’s President guilty in absentia for using money plundered from his country to buy property and luxury cars in France.

Teodorin Obiang, the eldest son of President Teodoro Obiang and a vice-president himself, was also handed a three-year suspended prison sentence and a suspended 30 million euros ($35 million) fine.

A court has ordered Nasir el-Rufai, governor of Kaduna; Ibrahim Idris, inspector-general of police, Kaduna state attorney-general and Kaduna commissioner of police to pay N40 million to Audu Maikori.

 Two women and their dogs have been rescued after being lost at sea for months while trying to sail from Hawaii to Tahiti.
