Burnaboy finally arrested and detained for sending robbers to attack fellow artiste, Mr 2Kay


Burnaboy has been arrested over Mr 2Kay robbery incident. According to a statement by the Police, he has been interrogated,detained and will be charged to court on Monday.

3 People Killed After Plane Crashed Into a Forest


Prosecutors say two Austrians and a German have been killed in a crash of a small plane in southwestern Germany.

The Cessna 510 crashed late Thursday in a wooded area near the city of Ravensburg. The plane had taken off in Frankfurt and was heading to Friedrichshafen, about 20 kilometers (12 miles) from the crash site.

Libya Slavery: 1,317 Nigerians Rescued In 10 Days


The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) says a total of 1,317 Nigerians have voluntarily returned from Libya in the last 10 days having been stranded in the volatile country en route Europe.

The Director-General of NEMA, Alhaji Mustapha Maihajja, made the disclosure while receiving a fresh batch of 116 Nigerians who arrived the country on Friday morning.

Nigerian jailed 18 years in Vietnam for import scam


A Southern Vietnam court has sentenced a Nigerian  to 18 years in prison over a fake customs enforcement scam,  state media reported on Friday.

A local media reported that Michael Ikechukwu Leonard, 45, was convicted on Thursday of “deceiving others to steal their assets” in a scam which targeted wealthy Vietnamese women.

First bank staff shot dead by unknown gunmen in Warri


A staff of First Bank Nigeria Plc in Warri, Delta state, Obaro Oji, was shot dead by unknwon gunmen while he was returning to his home at Ekpan bridge, around NNPC Housing Complex in the state at about 8pm on Tuesday December 12th.

According to reports, the gunmen allegedly trailed him after he closed from work and chased him to the spot where he was shot at close range. The gunmen didn’t take anything from the car of the deceased suggesting they were only after his life.

NNPC has described a publication by Sahara Reporters as false alleging that the Chief of Staff to President Buhari, Abba Kyari, directed the corporation to keep N50 billion away from the Treasury Single Account, TSA.

An Abakaliki Magistrates’ Court on Friday arraigned one Nnanna Offor, a board member of the Ebonyi State Secondary Education Board for allegedly defiling a minor.

Ofor, 50, is standing trial before Magistrate Stella Ogeoke, on a charge of child defilement that happened on Dec11, 2017 and was arrested the following day by the police.

Nigerian Army Court Marshal on Friday sentenced a soldier, Lance Corporal John Godwin, to death over the murder of five civilians at Yamteke community of Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno.

The President of the court, Brig.-Gen. Gbemiga Adesina said the prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt that the soldier committed the offence and guilty as charged.

Man flogs neighbour to death in Niger State


A 49-year-old man, Garba Tukura, was on Thursday, arrested by the Niger State Police Command, for allegedly murdering his neighbor, Musa Wassa. 

According to Punchng, Tukura was said to have allegedly killed 65-year-old Wassa during a heated argument. According to the Public Relations Officer for the police command, Peter Sunday, Tukura, in the heat of an argument, flogged Wassa with an engine belt.

NIBSS, PFS launch national automated cheque clearing system


Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS) and Precise Financial Systems (PFS) have collaborated to unveil a new National Automated Clearing System (NACS), which allows all the Deposit Money Banks in the country to clear cheques within hours.

The banks have been test-running the infrastructure for 11 weeks ago and a total of N5 trillion worth of cheques from 10 million transactions has been processed through the new platform.

Unknown gunmen on Tuesday, killed Yakubu Mama, an official of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) for exposing criminals in Keffi-Karu-Abuja axis to security operatives.

The Nasarawa State Chairman of MACBAN, Muhammed Hussaini, who confirmed the incident to Daily Trust, said that the gunmen stormed the deceased’s residence Tuesday night in Agwan Toni, Karu LGA and whisked him into the bush where they murdered him.

NDLEA in Jigawa state nabs six with 1000kg of drugs


The Jigawa State Commander of the NDLEA, Josephine Obi has disclosed that the agency arrested six suspects in the state and recovered 1000kg of drugs between December 9 and 11. Obi said that two suspects were arrested with cannabis while four others were nabbed with over 900 grams of Tramadol tablets. All the suspects have been charged to court.

NNPC says fuel queues to disappear as it is expecting 250million litres of petrol


The fuel scarcity currently being experienced in the country is set to be a thing of the past as the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation announced on Wednesday that it was expecting up to five ships, each filled with 50 million litres of petrol in the next three days.

Five firms are bidding to acquire troubled telecom firm 9Mobile (formerly Etisalat), The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) said yesterday.

It was learnt that the five were picked as qualified among the 16 that Expressed Interestto Barclays bank, the financial advisers on the bid.
