Bank Cashier Steals N625m from Wema Bank Customer’s Account


A cashier, Shola Adeyemi, who allegedly converted a Wema Bank customer’s N625m  for personal use, on Wednesday appeared before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
Thirty-year-old Adeyemi, a resident of Catholic Church Road, Torikoh, Badagry, is facing three counts of conspiracy, stealing and forgery.

Unknown persons on Tuesday night vandalized the grave of late Uganda’s billionaire businessman, Ivan Ssemwanga.

Ssemwanga, late husband of socialite Zari Hassan, was laid to rest at his ancestral grounds in Kayunga in May 2017. He was buried with wads of cash and bottles of wine.

A middle age man, Aniekan Billie, from Obiokpok in Nsit Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, has lost two of his children to unidentified assassins.

Billie, who reported the matter at the Police headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia, on Wednesday, said he locked up the children in his room and left for Urua Kpokpo to buy food items.

80 million Nigerians lack access to electricity — World Bank


Despite efforts by the Federal Government to provide electricity in the country, the World Bank, yesterday, disclosed that over 80 million Nigerians have no access to electricity.

World Bank Country Director, Nigeria, Mr. Rachid Benmessaoud, revealed this at the 4th Action Learning event on Upscaling Mini Grids for low-cost and timely access to electricity, organised by the Rural Electrification Agency, REA, in Abuja. Benmessaoud, however, said the World Bank had provided a $350m loan for the development of rural electrification projects in Nigeria. He said the $350m loan was given to government, but noted that a lot of the fund would go to the private sector.

A man, Olayinka Abass Akeem, 32, allegedly arrested with seven fresh human skulls along Ajase-Ipo Road, Kwara State by the police, has confessed that he is a ritualist.

According to him, he exhumed the skulls from a cemetery for money ritual. Police sources said Akeem had been trailed from   the Muslim Cemetery in Igbo-Owu, near Ajase-Ipo where he had gone to exhume the skulls after the police had been alerted by a passersby. 
He was later arrested in a vehicle he boarded to meet a friend he simply identified as Tunde,a.k.a Bante, who was expected to deliver the skulls to a herbalist for money ritual.
