Cocoa farmers yesterday raised the alarm over alleged procurement of ‘fake ‘chemicals and other inputs for its members by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture.

The inputs, particularly fungicides, according to Cocoa Farmers Association of Nigeria (CFAN), have destroyed several cocoa trees and farms.

According to Daily Sun, the suspect was alleged to have conspired with his 28-year-old wife, Ruth, to sell their three sons, 3-day-old Samuel, 5-year-old Ubong and 10-year-old Ekpo in Ikot-Abaji Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, to a trafficker in Aba, Abia State, through a nurse in the city.

32-year old banker arrested for beating his wife to death in Lagos


Olaoluwa Adejo, a 32-year-old bank worker has been arrested for the death of his 28-year-old wife, Maureen, at their home on Peluola Street, Oworonshoki, Bariga, Lagos State.

Olaoluwa was alleged to have tortured his wife of five years with a belt, as well as cutting her with a machete. Their 5-year-old son, Richard, who witnessed the incident, said that his father also forced a local insecticide, otapiapia, down the throat of his mother.

A mother who was jailed for starving her young daughter to death has been freed from jail after serving just half of her original sentence.”

The Controller-General of Prisons, Jaáfaru Ahmed, has approved the recommendation of the Zonal Disciplinary Committee for the dismissal of eight prison officers for professional misconduct.

The eight officers were found guilty of trafficking prohibited items such as mobile phones, Indian hemp and other narcotics into the prison yards for inmates according to statement on Monday in Abuja by the NPS spokesman, Francis Enobore.

EFCC obtains warrants to arrest ex-DG DSS, former NIA boss


The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has obtained two separate warrants from a court to arrest a former Director-General of Department of State Service (DSS), Mr. Ita Ekpenyong and ex-Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Mr. Ayo Oke.

Ikoyi whistle-blower rejects FG’s N325m, EFCC delays payment

Yakubu Galadima, the lawyer for the whistle-blower, who informed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission of the $43m, N23.2m and £27,800 (N13bn) recovered from an Ikoyi apartment, says his client will not accept anything below five per cent commission.

Galadima said this during a chat with one of our correspondents on Saturday.
The Secretary of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye, at an event on Thursday titled, ‘Tracking Noxious Funds’, which was organised by Kent University Law School and Human and Environmental Development Agency, had explained that any whistle-blower, who helped the government to recover anything above N1bn would receive less than five per cent commission.
