A 37-year-old herbalist, Sikiru Ifashola, on Tuesday appeared in an Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly kidnapping a child and demanding a ransom for her release.

Ifashola, of No. 16, Sholuyi St., Ifako Gbagada, is standing trial on a charge of kidnapping, which he pleaded not guilty to.

8 Murdered By Boko Haram For Opposing Sharia Police


8 Villagers in northeast Nigeria, have been publicly executed by Boko Haram for opposing the enforcement of its hardline form of Islam, according to a graphic video seen by AFP.

All eight were blindfolded and lying face down on the ground when they were shot at close range by four masked gunmen. Crowds were seen cheering, the images showed.

One man wearing a white turban told the crowd before the execution that the condemned villagers were “apostates (who) have left the fold of Islam”.

Justice Rilwan Aikawa of the Federal High Court Ikoyi over the weekend sentenced a deaf and dumb and a security guard to five years imprisonment each for dealing in cannabis and cocaine.

Man's arrest over planning attack at Ariana Grande concert


Police have arrested a man on suspicion of planning a terror attack at an Ariana Grande concert in Costa Rica.

Detectives launched a manhunt on Saturday after threatening messages were posted in Arabic on a webpage of the concert organisers.

The suspect, with the last names Caicedo Lopez, a 22-year-old from Colombia, was held in a 6am raid on his flat in Tibas, near the capital San Jose, yesterday.

A newborn baby boy was found at yesterday evening, at a back yard of a house at Vries Street in Stutterheim, South Africa.

It is alleged that the baby was heard crying by the house occupants. The baby was taken by ambulance to hospital where he is being kept.

Bankers Arrested For Defrauding Customers Of N150m


Three bankers have been arrested by the police for allegedly hacking into the bank accounts of customers and diverting a total sum of N150m.

The bankers- Oyelade Shola-Isaac, 32, Osuolale Hammid, 40, and Akeem Adesina, 33 – were apprehended along with eight other suspects in connection with the fraud.

Three of the accomplices, Okpetu John, 29; Chukwumnoso Ifeanyi, 30; and Salako Abdulsalam were said to be MTN agents, while others were identified as Ismaeel Salami, 49; Akinola Oghuan, 34; Sarumi Abubakar, 32; James Idagu, 56; and 33-year-old Sunday Okeke.

Teenager dies from using cellphone while taking a bath


A 14-year-old girl from Lubbock, Texas has died after getting electrocuted while using her cellphone in a bathtub. Madison Coe was taking a bath at her father's home in Lovington, New Mexico on Sundaymorning when she got electrocuted.

Family members say they believe the accident was caused either when she plugged in her phone while in the bathtub or grabbing the phone as it was being charged.

At least 16 people are dead after a U.S. Marine Corps. KC-130 airplane from Tennessee crashed into a soybean field in Mississippi Monday. 

LeFlore County EMA Director Fred Randal told WLBT that at least 16 people died in the crash on the aircraft that departed from Memphis.
