The little boy, identified as Emmanuel was allegedly brutalized by his step father for buying bread instead of cigarette he was sent to buy. According to Basic Right Counsel (BRC) who rescued the boy, his step father inflicted a deep machete cut on his right forearm. Police raid Ekweremadu’s residence


The Nigeria police force raided the Abuja residence of Ike Ekweremadu, deputy senate president, on Friday.
In a statement issued hours after the raid, Uche Anichukwu, media aide of the lawmaker, said the police did not find any incriminating item on the property.
“At about 8am on Friday, May 26, 2017, men of the Nigeria police force from the inspector-general of police special squad raided the official guest house of the deputy president of the senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, located at No. 10 Ganges Street, Maitama, Abuja. 1530 African migrants die in Mediterranean in 2017


The UN Migration Agency (IOM) said Friday that 1,530 migrants and refugees died crossing the Mediterranean in 2017.

The IOM reports that 60,521 migrants and refugees have entered Europe by sea this year, with over 80 percent arriving in Italy and the remainder divided between Greece, Cyprus and Spain, said Stephane Dujarric, spokesman for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, at the daily news briefing.

The South African Police Service in the Northern Cape welcomes the sentencing that was handed down to Christian Cornelius (aka Christopher) Julies who was found guilty on 34 charges, ranging from rape, attempted rape and assaults in various towns and cities in the Northern Cape and North West Provinces, over a period of more than four years. 

The sentencing was handed down in Northern Cape High Court in Kimberley, yesterday, 26 May. Christopher Julies received 7 life term sentences for rape and another 373 years imprisonment for rape, attempted rape and assaults. The sentences will run concurrently.
