Delta PDP Chieftain Slumps, Dies In Hotel Room

Tragedy on Thursday struck  the ranks of the Delta State Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) as  a  chieftain of the party ,  Dr. Brown Knowledge Anderson slumped and died in a hotel room in Asaba.

Already detectives from the state police command are trying to unravel the circumstance the led to the death of Anderson.

Dr. Adasen the Delta State Treasurer of the party was reportedly found dead in Hotel Valerie located on Direct Labour Agency road Asaba  few hours he checked into the room.

Prophet Jailed 7 Years For Running Out Of Court During Trial


Prophet Destiny Onwudinjo of Heaven Divine Ministry, Shasha, a suburb of Lagos in western Nigeria, has been sentenced to seven years imprisonment without an option of fine for absconding from court to evade trial.

Presiding Magistrate P.E. Nwaka of Ejigbo Court handed the sentence to Onwudinjo after he pleaded guilty to attempt to escape after he was brought to court for trial.

A 38-year-old man who could not keep his roving weapon of destruction intact has been remanded in prison for allegedly raping an 8-year-old girl.
Taiwo Coker was ordered to be remanded in prison custody until the determination of his case on July 1st by an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun State.

21-Year-Old Fresh Graduate Raped To Death In Ogun

POLICE in Ogun State have begun investigations into the mystery surrounding the death of a 21-year-old lady, who just graduated from the Lagos State Polytechnic.

Two people, said to be neighbours of the deceased have reportedly been arrested in connection with the incident by men of the state police command.

Nigerian Tribune gathered that the deceased, simply identified as Nafisat, was last Wednesday, raped and strangled to death at her residence in Ogijo, in Ikorodu area of Ogun State.

Mrs Adenike Shonubi, the Magistrate of an Abule-Egba Magistrates' court, has ordered that the accused, 53-year-old Ajibola Tokunbo should produce two sureties in like sum as part of his bail condition, NAN reports.
Tokunbo, the driver of the bus transporting the empty bottles, was docked for stealing, conspiracy and causing a breach of peace.the accused, who lives at No. 2, Taiwo Kehinde Close, Ipaja, a Lagos suburb, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

25-yr-old woman charged for trying to sell her baby for $500

 

Elizabeth Gayton, 25, and her partner Corryaune Paige made two attempts at getting rid of little Annabel, Cleveland police claim.
While bartering, mother-of-four Gayton allegedly left her two-year-old with a stranger she had met the day before.
Police were contacted after she returned for a second time to the west side of the Ohio city to pester relatives to buy the baby.

Military Recovers Video Recordings Of Boko Haram

The Director, Defence Information, Maj. Gen. Chris Olukolade, has confirmed that troops of the Nigerian Army have recovered video recordings of the heinous acts perpetrated by the Boko Haram insurgents.

However, Olukolade refused to disclose further information about the crimes against humanity captured in the videos in possession of the military.

He said, “It is true that troops have captured some video recordings of the terrorists but I would not want to say anything on that for now.”

Two Male Staff Of Home Best Hotel Die In Their Sleep In Imo

Residents of Edede, Owerri in Imo State, on Friday, woke up to hear the news of the mysterious death of two male staff members of Home Best Hotel, who passed away in their sleep in the same room in the hotel.

An eyewitness, who narrated the incident to our correspondent, said one of the deceased, Chima Nnadi , 25, a part-time student of the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, Owerri, who hails from Enyiogugu, Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State, put off a generating set that was running close to their room at about 11.39pm.

Nigerian couple in the dock for enslaving a man for 24 years in the UK

A Nigerian doctor, Emmanuel Edet and his wife, Antan, has been charged before a West London court after it was discovered that the couple had enslaved a man, Ofonmbuk Sunday Inuk, against his will from the age of 13, for 24 years before he finally managed to escape from them and inform police, reports the Daily Mail Online.
Dr Edet was also accused of human trafficking after he smuggled Inuk into the UK as child. when he was just 13 years old.
The court also heard that Edet demanded to be called 'master' and repeatedly beat his victim and subjected him to a life of misery for all of the 24 years.

An Imo State based commercial bus driver and his conductor caused a stir at the popular Control Post, adjacent the Maria Assumpta Catholic Cathedral, Owerri, the state capital, when they took on some 'errant' police officers using some strange weapons: faeces, attacking the officers by throwing the human waste at them.
According to eyewitnesses, the policemen at the Post had flagged down the bus as the driver was driving recklessly.

A man was shocked when he realised that his wife was a prostitute.

A horrified husband was shocked to his bone marrow when he walked into a brothel and saw his wife who claimed to be a waitress, was actually working as a prostitute and was just coming out of a room with another man.

The Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, on Thursday 08 May confirmed that Governor Babatunde Fashola and his predecessor, Bola Tinubu indeed had a bitter quarrel that almost undermined the governance of the state.

This came as the outgoing Lagos Governor, Fashola openly apologised to all Lagos residents irrespective of class, ethnicity or religion, whom he said, might have been affected by different decisions he had taken in office.

The duo spoke at the Lagos TV complex, Agidingbi during a celebration of Fashola’s 2,900th day in office. The event was attended by former governors, former deputy governors, serving and former commissioners and traditional rulers among others.

Zoning Formula & Our Polity – By Charly Boy

Really been thinking about this zoning thing since this APC drama on it and wondering why we have allowed this to eat so deep into our system that at every quarter, it always raises its head. To think that the Change agents everyone has been clamoring about are back to the same issue of zoning formulas and reports have it that it is fast wreaking havoc is a high. It makes me wonder why zone in the first place?

The 360 states in the house of assembly, is it not enough representation for any quarter of the nation. Why do we need to complicate issues further because one would have thought the primary concern when it comes to appointment should be competence? We have tried this zoning thing over and again but what better has it done us because I hear someone say it helps to foster unity and participation.
