No religion encourages street begging – Gov. Bello’s aide

Tanko Ahmed, the Special Adviser to Gov. Abubakar Bello of Niger on Religious Affairs, says street begging is a form of child labour not supported by any religion in the country.
Ahmed told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna on Tuesday that no religion encourages parents to give birth to children and throw them on the streets.

The Police in Jigawa have arrested a 25-year-old man accused of killing a 65-year-old woman in Taura Local Government Area of the state.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Jinjiri Abdu, confirmed the arrest in Dutse on Tuesday.
Jinjiri said that the suspect allegedly attacked the victim, identified as Baba Uwa, with a hoe while working on her farm.

Ugandan activist charged for calling President, Yoweri Museveni 'a pair of buttocks'

Ugandan activist Stella Nyanzi has been charged with cyber harassment over a Facebook post in which she referred to President Yoweri Museveni as "a pair of buttocks", a reference which her official charge sheet has described as "obscene or indecent".

Unexpectedly, there is no mention in the official charges of the insults she aimed at First Lady Janet Museveni, BBC reports.

However, abusing the president is a criminal offence and easier to prosecute if proven.
