Nicaragua: Ortega names his wife as running mate


Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega has named his wife as his running mate and candidate for vice-president as he seeks re-election for a third term.
First Lady Rosario Murillo already has a prominent role as the chief government spokeswoman and is widely seen as sharing power with her husband.
She appears on Nicaraguan television almost every day.

Suge Knight allegedly tried to have Eminem killed


A former bodyguard of Eminem claims that Suge Knight tried to have the Detroit rapper killed in 2001. 
In an interview with “Murder Master Music Show,” Eminem’s former bodyguard Byron “Big Naz” Williams allegedly had to “snatch” the star up before an argument with Knight’s crew escalated further at the Source Awards 15 years ago. 

Acting IGP Idris Almost Causes Bloodbath At Central Bank Of Nigeria Headquarters


Mr. Ibrahim Kpotun Idris, the acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP), on Tuesday, almost caused a shootout between police officers in his convoy and security men at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Headquarters in Abuja, SaharaReporters was authoritatively informed.
Idris, who seems to consider paying courtesy visits his sole job description, arrived on a visit to the CBN headquarters at about 5:45pm.

Nigerian troops attached to Operation Lafiya Dole, code name for the military’s anti-terrorism drive, have arrested a suspected high-profile Boko Haram terrorist, Mohammed Zauro, at Sabon Gari in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State. 

This was disclosed in a press statement signed by Colonel Sani Kusheka Usman, acting Director, Army Public Relations.

“The Devil” wanted to change his face, but the suspected drug lord with the demonic nickname was arrested before his appointment with a plastic surgeon in Mexico City.
David Garza Avila, also known as Elias Garza Garcia, was arrested on Monday in Naucalpan, a suburb of the capital, along with three other people after authorities caught wind of his doctor’s appointment, according to the National Security Commission.

Woman Stabs Husband To Death For Coming Home Late And Drunk

A Kenyan woman has been arrested for allegedly stabbing her husband to death for arriving home late and drunk.
Ann Mbaithe (pictured left) was accused of stabbing her husband, Daniel Githuka, 30, in the chest and killing him, after he returned home in the early hours of Saturday, July 30 in Tinganga village, Kiambu town.
The deceased’s mother Elizabeth Wanjiku said he worked at a neighbouring school and usually returned at about 10pm.

We didn’t promise Draxler he will leave this year – Wolfsburg release statement


Wolfsburg have released a statement, making it clear that they never had an agreement with Julian Draxler, to allow him leave this summer.
On Tuesday, Draxler granted an interview to Bild, where he stated that he wanted to leave the Bundesliga club, with Arsenal and Juventus thought to be keen on the 22-year-old.
“Wolfsburg wish to make it absolutely clear that at no time did those responsible at the club make either written or oral commitments on the transfer of Julian Draxler within the current transfer period which is due to end on August 31, 2016,” the club statement said.

Family Of Senegal Maid Who May Face Execution In Saudi Says They 'Feel Helpless'


The brother of a Senegalese maid who may face the death sentence in Saudi Arabia has told the BBC that the family feel helpless and cannot speak to her. 

Mbayang Diop was arrested several weeks ago accused of killing the woman she worked for in Saudi Arabia. 

Her brother, Mamadou Diop, said that traffickers had deceived her, promising her a well-paid job but instead she was mistreated.

A 21-year-old man is currently in Police custody in Tema, Ghana for attempting to behead his friend for rituals. Charles Ashitey, also known as Zaga was arrested by some residents of Tema Newtown after his attempt to behead his 19-year-old friend, Daniel Norteye, failed.

Police arrest 3-man fraud syndicate in Abuja

The Nigerian Police on Monday arrested a 3-man fraud syndicate, which specializes in calling highly placed Nigerians on phone and demanding huge amount of money, threatening grievous consequences if they fail to comply.
The arrest was revealed via a statement released by police Public Relations Officer, DCP Don Awunah on Tuesday.
According to the statement, the arrest was made “subsequent to several complaints received from well meaning individuals and highly placed personalities.”

Southern PDP leaders to share positions on Thursday


The leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party from the South will meet in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, on Thursday to share the national offices allocated to the zone in the forthcoming national convention.
The six zones in the North were said to have agreed on the sharing of the offices given to them by the party.

Super Eagles captain and Chelsea midfielder, John Mikel Obi has insisted that he will definitely stay at Stamford Bridge for the 2016-17 English Premier League season.
The 29-year-old midfielder has been linked with a move from the Blues this summer following the arrival of new manager Antonio Conte, he insists he will not be leaving even as his contract at the club will run out in 2017.
“I am definitely staying at Chelsea and I will try to give my best to the club, like I have always done,” Mikel said.

South African Pastor Dies After 30 Days Of Dry Fasting; Allegedly Tried To Beat Jesus’ Record


44-year-old Alfred Ndlovu met his end as he embarked on the journey of no food-no-water to emulate Jesus Christ’s 40 days and 40 nights fasting. He reportedly died of malnutrition following a dry fasting that lasted for 30 days. The pastor allegedly left home for the spiritual journey on 17 June. Just like Jesus, Ndlovu left the things of the world behind him and focused on God as he took to the bush to conduct prayers.
