Edo State Commissioner of Police, CP Johnson Kokumo today, paraded three persons, a boy and two girls suspected to be connected with the explosion that occurred in Okpilla, Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State, on Monday evening.

The police commissioner, who gave the names of those arrested as Idris Ibrahim, 22, and two females, Zainab Ibrahim and Oyeza Abdul all of Kogi State told journalists that the suspects specialized in manufacturing bombs, adding that the police recovered some Improvised Explosive Devices, IEDs, from them.

Woman Sentenced To Jail In Enugu State For Child Trafficking

A Federal High Court sitting in Enugu has sentenced a woman, Onwe Nwakaego, 25, from Abakpa Nike Enugu, to six months imprisonment without the option of fine, for child trafficking.

Two defendants, Onwe Nwakaego (f) and Onwe Ifeanyi (m), were arraigned on January 17th 2018 by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for engaging a 7 years old child as a domestic worker, an act contrary to Section 23 (1)(a) of the Trafficking In Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act, 2015.

Twelve killed in Maiduguri suicide bombing

At least 12 people were killed on Wednesday when a suicide bomb exploded around Muna Garage area of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, officials have said.

The explosion occurred at about 5:05 p.m., Abdulkadir Ibrahim, a spokesperson of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, said in a statement.

A group of Tanzanian Muslims who have been held in prison since 2013 on terror charges stripped naked in an unusual protest to demand the start of their trial, a witness said Wednesday.

Police Arrest Suspected Kidnappers, Cattle Rustlers in Zamfara

The Police Command in Zamfara State said on Wednesday that it had arrested five suspected kidnappers and cattle rustlers and recovered 31 cows from them.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Muhammad Shehu, in a statement in Gusau, said a police team arrested the three-man gang of suspected kidnappers while on patrol along Ruwan-Dawa village of Dansadau Emirate in Maru Local Government Area of the state.

It has been revealed that the Nigeria Football Federation on Wednesday signed a two–year contract extension with Super Eagles’ Technical Adviser Gernot Rohr.

$1.6bn crude oil fraud: Omokore’s companies’ accounts closed by worldwide freezing order

An official of Stanbic IBTC Plc, Mr. Adedayo Adesanmi, told the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday that the accounts of a businessman, Jide Omokore, kept with the bank and into which $1.6bn proceeds of sales of Federal Government’s crude oil were allegedly diverted, had been closed down as a result of  “a worldwide freezing order”.

Adesanmi, who is a Senior Manager with the bank and the Relationship Manager for the two companies’ accounts, disclosed this while testifying as the fourth prosecution witness in the ongoing trial of Omokore and others before Justice Nnamdi Dimgba.

EX-Governor accused of corruption released on bail

A former governor of Plateau State, Jonah Jang, has been released on bail by the anti-graft agency, EFCC.

Mr. Jang, now a senator, is being investigated for alleged misappropriation of public funds while he was governor. A panel of inquiry set up by the Plateau State Government had earlier indicted the ex-governor of misappropriation of funds.

Witness tells court how he discovered $9,772,500 and £7k in a Fireproof Safe at Ex-NNPC boss, Andrew Yakubu’s Apartment

The trial of a former Group Managing Director GMD, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Andrew Yakubu continued on January 16, 2018 before Justice A. R. Mohamed of the Federal High Court Abuja with the EFCC’s third witness telling the court how foreign currencies believed to be proceeds of crime were recovered in a fireproof safe in an apartment belonging to the former NNPC boss in Kaduna.

The witness, Ahmed Yahaya, an operative of the EFCC Kano Zonal Office gave details of how he came across the $9,772,500 and 74,000 pounds sterling in the said apartment.

According to the area assistant Chief Mary Mulwa, Munyao was seen pulling the two goats from a bush where the animals had been tied on Saturday, January 13. The two goats were said to have taken their last breath after Munyao was done with them.

EFCC To Arraign Senator’s Son Tomorrow For Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission will on Wednesday arraign Mohammed Adamu, the son of the ex-Nasarawa State governor and current lawmaker representing Nasarawa-West senatorial district, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, with alleged fraud to the tune of N92m.
