Arms deal: EFCC quizzes Falae for receiving N100m

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has quizzed a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Olu Falae, on his alleged role in the $15bn arms scam.
Falae, who was quizzed on Thursday by the anti-graft agency, had in February admitted to collecting N100m from a former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party’s Board of Trustees, Chief Tony Anenih, during the build-up to the 2015 presidential election.
The money was reportedly given to Falae to get his party, the SDP, to endorse the then President, Goodluck Jonathan, and campaign for him.

21 die after drinking homemade liquor


Twenty-one labourers died after drinking toxic homemade liquor in northern India, police said Sunday, in the latest incident of alcohol poisoning in the country.
Police in Uttar Pradesh state’s Etah district said the victims started to vomit and fall sick, complaining of severe stomach aches and blurred vision after consuming the illicit moonshine late Friday.
Earlier the toll was reported at 17, with 12 people hospitalised. However four of those have since died, police said.

Detained former National Security Adviser (NSA), Colonel Mohammed Sambo Dasuki (rtd), has dragged the federal government to an Abuja High Court challenging his incarceration in the custody of the Department of the State Security Service (DSS) since December last year.
In the new suit, Dasuki is praying the court to order his immediate release from detention either conditionally or un-conditionally.
