(Photo) Court Jails Man 27months for Job Scam,orders him to refund victim's money


Justice O. A. Adeniyi of the FCT High Court sitting in Apo, Abuja on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 convicted and sentenced one Micheal Ogun (a.k.a Idris Suleiman, Ibrahim Bello) to 27months imprisonment on a six-count charge of forgery and obtaining by false pretence brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Ogun, allegedly poses as an officer of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS and Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, and in that assumed capacity defrauding innocent Nigerians of their hard earned money under the guise of securing them job in the two agencies.

Maggie Dixon, a woman from North Carolina has been charged with attempted murder and child abuse after police say she was caught on camera repeatedly trying to smother her one-year-old son in his room at a Charlotte hospital, Daily Mail UK reports.
 
According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, nurses at Levine Children’s Hospital were watching their monitors Saturday night and noticed the boy had trouble breathing when his mother, 32-year-old Maggie Dixon, was alone with him.

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 41-year-old man Adeoye Oreyomi, for allegedly chaining his 13-year-old son, Demola, hands and feet over N2,000 theft, Punch reports.

The suspect who lived on Dokun Street, Ewuga in Sagamu, Ogun State, according to police reports, was said to have stripped the boy naked before using a chain to tie him on both hands and legs and padlocked the chain at both ends.

Italian politician resigns for abandoning puppies he found on his doorstep


A politician in Sicily who was caught on camera abandoning four puppies in the street has resigned from his post, local media reported Tuesday.

Vito Dicara, the alderman for culture and sports in the Sicilian town of Caltagirone, was filmed in the act by the security cameras of a nearby private home, whose owner alerted the Carabinieri, a branch of Italy’s police, according to newspaper La Sicilia.

Police arrest six suspected armed robbers in Badagry (Photos)


Police paraded a gang of suspected armed robbers that disposed two officials of the Nigerian Customs Service (NSC) of the cars, valuables at Badagry in January .

The suspects were arrested at the Mowo area of Badagry around 1am on Tuesday .
Tunji Adesanya, 33, Rasaq Lawal, 22, Hammed Lawal, 24, Olanrewaju Wasiu, 29, Kenneth Ohmai, 39 and Ibrahim Aliu, 26,, confessed to have robbed Garba Usman and Akubo Ibrahim, on January 1, and January 5 of their Toyota Corolla, 2006 model and Lexus 350 Sports Utility Vehicle  (SUV) respectively.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has picked up the Director of Administration at the Police Service Commission, Emmanuel Ibe, for an alleged N600m fraud.
Ibe was detained last week following a petition by some members of the Police Service Commission Cooperative Society that he allegedly collected millions of naira from them meant to be used to purchase land.

Ronaldo summoned for July 31 tax hearing


Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo, accused of evading 14.7 million euro ($16.5m) in tax, has been summoned to appear before a judge in Spain on July 31, judicial sources told AFP on Tuesday.

The 32-year-old Portuguese star is facing four charges of fraud through offshore companies between 2011 and 2014.

Ronaldo has denied the charges.

Philippines’ Duterte apologises for urban war


Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte apologised Tuesday for a military offensive that has left the nation's main Muslim city in ruins, but said it was needed to crush militants linked to the Islamic State group.

Duterte also vowed that US-backed air strikes on Marawi would continue, as the conflict entered its fifth week with no sign of an end and its reported death toll climbed towards 370.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho was on Tuesday accused of evading 3.3 million euro ($3.7 million) in tax at Real Madrid, the public prosecutor’s office in Madrid announced.
Portuguese Mourinho, who coached Real Madrid from 2010 to 2013, was accused of “two offences against the public treasury,” the office said in a statement.
