GRAPHIC PHOTOS: Nigerian Soldiers Pluck Out Eye Of Road Safety Official


An official of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Segun Enikuemehin, who dared to ask some military men who were assaulting a civilian to desist from such a dastardly act is currently at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) with one of his eyes totally damaged.

The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon when Mr. Enikuemehin came upon the military men beating a harmless civilian.  Convinced that the military officials would beat the man to death if nothing was done, he reportedly walked up the angry soldiers and pleaded that they let the man go or hand him over to the police if he had done something illegal.

Nine Islamic asylum seekers arrested for drugging and raping a woman in Austria


Nine men, who are all seeking asylum in Austria travelled to Vienna for New Year’s Eve celebrations where they allegedly drugged a woman and dragged her to a nearby apartment block before brutally raping her. Police were called on January 1 when the woman woke up to discover she had been the victim of a vile sex attack.

OPC members wanted for killing port’s worker


The Lagos State Police Command has launched a manhunt for some members of the Oodua Peoples’ Congress in the Ijora Badia area of the state for allegedly killing a resident, Rasak Muritala.

PUNCH Metro learnt that one of the suspects, Dauda Iyanda, was arrested by the Ijora Badia Police Division on Sunday shortly after Muritala died.

Our correspondent gathered that the OPC members, who were allegedly working for a police inspector, identified only as Ibrahim, had stormed Church Street, Ijora Badia, about three weeks ago.

Pastor Kingsley Amayo, the pastor of a popular pentecostal church in Edo state has been arrested over the questionable death of his wife, Mrs Faith Amayo.Detectives at Zone 5 Police headquarters in Benin, Edo State also arrested three other pastors of his church in connection with the death of the 38 year old woman in Uromi town, Esan North-East area.
They were arrested after the woman’s family wrote a petition, alleging questionable circumstances surrounding the death of their daughter.

Young black woman who plotted to join ISIS with Muslim fiancé, sentenced to 12 years in prison


A 20-year-old Mississippi woman has been jailed for conspiring with her Muslim fiance to join the Islamic State group.

Jaelyn Young, a former Mississippi University student and daughter of a former Navy seal, who sought to disguise a planned honeymoon to join ISIS was sentenced by a federal judge on Thursday to 12 years in prison on a terrorism charge.

 
The honour student at Warren Central High School broke down in heavy sobs during her sentencing by U.S. District Judge Sharion Aycock. Young pleaded guilty in March to one count of conspiring to provide material support to a terrorist organization.

NDLEA nabs man with N9.8m fake currency


The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in Kwara on Friday said it arrested Mohammed Adamu for possessing N9.8 million fake currency notes.

The NDLEA Commander in the state, Mr Apeh Reuben, who presented the suspect to newsmen in Ilorin said the fake currency were mainly N1,000 notes.

Reuben said Adamu concealed the fake notes in a carton of noodles wrapped with cello tape.

Security guard shoots man to death over N500


Military personnel and policemen on Friday prevented an irate mob from setting ablaze a filling station in Onitsha, Anambra, after a security guard shot dead a middle-aged man over N500.

The incident occurred at about 10.00 a.m. at Ona-Jones Oil filling station near the Nkpor flyover on Enugu-Onitsha expressway, Nkpor, near Onitsha.

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 42-year-old Islamic cleric, Rasheed Ayuba, for alleged car theft. 


Ayuba, who hails from Igbesa, Ogun State, was apprehended along with a transporter in Ibadan, Oyo State, Falade Igbekele, who reportedly bought six of the stolen cars. 

Archbishop Chukwuma Blasts Governor Okorocha


The Archbishop of the Enugu Province, Anglican Communion, the Most Rev. Emmanuel Chukwuma, Thursday, blasted Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha over his persistent attacks on the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu.


Okorocha, who is the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Governors’ Forum, has vowed to remove Ekweremadu and replace him with the Senator elect from Imo State.

NDLEA nabs man, seizes N1.78bn worth of hard drug


The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Anambra says it has arrested a 31-year-old man, Vincent Chidiebere, for allegedly peddling hard drug worth N1.78 billion.
Addressing newsmen in Onitsha on Tuesday, the Commander of NDLEA in the state, Mr Sule Momodu, said that the suspect was arrested in Awka on July 28 with methamphetamine weighing 25.2kg.

Woman gang raped by armed men points finger at husband


A 45-year-old woman, who was gang-raped in Abakaliki, has pointed fingers at her husband, who she claimed sent armed men to rape her. 

Giving an account of her ordeal to the News Agency of Nigeria(NAN), she narrated that her attackers removed her from a commercial motorcycle she boarded and transferred her to theirs.

A 58-year-old man, Joseph Onweji, has threw operatives of the Lagos State Police into bouts of laughter when he declared that committing suicide is not a child's play, after he was saved by the security operatives as he attempted to jump into the Lagos Lagoon on July 24, 2016.

It was gathered that Onweji who said he had been ill for over 36 years with no solution, went to the Third Mainland Bridge, climbed on the railing and was about to jump into the water below when a passing Rapid Response Squad (RRS) police team stopped and rescued him.

Wasiu Lawal, Cleric Rapes Woman During Spiritual Cleansing In Lagos


A 42-year-old man, Wasiu Lawal, who allegedly raped a 38-year-old woman on the pretext of helping her spiritually, was on Wednesday in Lagos brought before a Surulere Magistrates’ Court.

The accused, who lives at No.1, Adeleke Agodo St., Ikorodu in Lagos State, is facing a charge of rape.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Christopher Okoniko told the court that the accused committed the offence at about 9pm on July 1 in Lagos.

Woman Who Says Prison Is Like Home, Robs Bank & Wait To Be Arrested By Police


59-year-old Linda Thompson, a transgender woman on Wednesday pleaded guilty to a robbery charge after police say she pulled off a bank heist in Wyoming just so she could return to prison. 

Thompson told a district court judge in Cheyenne that going back behind bars would be like going home. Sentencing for the woman was set for October 12.
