23-yr-old Man butchers 72-yr-old Woman over Land dispute in Ogun


A 23-year-old man, Adeoye Ikugbayigbe has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for butchering a 72-year-old woman, Funmilayo Shada, over a land dispute on March 17th.

The police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi on Monday in Abeokuta, Ogun state, said:

"Son of the deceased, Ekundayo Shada, filed a complaint at the police station after sighting the suspect with his mother’s severed head.

Mansur Dan-Ali, minister of defence, says Abubakar Shekau, leader of the Boko Haram sect, is still alive and could be hiding in Sambisa forest, a stronghold of the sect in Borno state.

Speaking with state house correspondents after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, Dan-Ali said Shekau had been disguising with masks to evade arrest.
He maintained that the military had overpowered the sect, and expressed the belief that its leader will be arrested “as soon as possible”.

The police Sergeant, Wilson Ufere, who killed 16-year-old Obinna Iwuoha, on Thursday on the Anara-Umuahia expressway in the Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State have been expelled from the Nigeria Police Force.
Ufere, had at about 5:30 pm at ‘Ugwu Omiri Lawyer’, while on a road duty with two other colleagues, opened fire directly at a close range on a group of youths, mostly teenagers who were on a church procession.

A Karmo Grade I Area Court, Abuja, on Tuesday sentenced one Wisdom Gabriel, 22, to two months imprisonment for stealing N 170 at a chemist’s shop in old Karmo Market.
The judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, however, gave the convict N5,000 option of fine.
The judge said that the sentence would serve as deterrent to others that may be tempted to commit similar crime.
