120-year-old man accused of obtaining N.4m illegally


The Osun State Police Command has arraigned a 120-year-old man, Pa Busari Oyewumi, for allegedly defrauding one Wasiu Adebisi of N400,000.

The suspect was arraigned before a Chief Magistrate Court in Osogbo headed by Mrs. Fatima Sodamade on Monday on three counts of stealing, obtaining by false pretense and conspiracy.

Some people suspected to be Fulani herdsmen on Sunday allegedly set fire on about five hectares of the farm where oil palm trees and some other cash crops were planted.

80 Students Narrowly Escape Tragic Death As Fire Razes Hostel In Sokoto


According to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, no less than eighty female students of Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS) Mabera in Sokoto metropolis escaped death on Sunday night when fire completely razed down their hostel. 
 
The inferno destroyed the four-room A’isha hostel and valuables but no student was hurt.

Traffic offenders may pay higher fines soon, FRSC boss warns


The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Commission, Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi, has said that fines payable by traffic offenders may be increased this year, noting that the penalty stipulated by the law is rather low.

He also revealed that a total of 4,410 Nigerians lost their lives in 7,937 road crashes in 2017, while 23, 392 victims were injured.
