Former beauty queen, Anna Banner, not only attained when she won in the Most Beautiful Girl competition in Nigeria (MBGN) some years back, but becoming singer, Flavour’s baby mama added to her popularity.

And as much as she said she never used her pregnancy to ‘hook’ the singer, Anna, in an exclusive chat with Saturday Beats, also said she was still in love with Flavour, even if he has yet to marry her after having a child for him.

21-year-old Lauren Adderley, has bagged a 9-months jail sentence for pretending to be a Police Officer for 2 years to control her 22-year-old ex-boyfriend, Mitchell Lloyd, and also stop him from seeing other women.

The jealous lady who forbade her ex-boyfriend from going to certain bars, convincing him that he was under investigation, was reportedly in a romantic relationship with Mitchell for only two months in 2014.

EFCC seeks permanent forfeiture of N664m recovered from permanent secretary


The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has filed an application before the Federal High Court in Lagos seeking the permanent forfeiture of the sums of N664,475,246.6, $137,680.11 and property it recovered from the Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity, Dr Clement Illoh Onubuogo, to the Federal Government.

The anti-graft agency had on August 17, secured an order of temporary forfeiture of the money, a property described as “Clement Illoh’s Mansion” located at Ikom Quarters, Issala-Azegba in Delta State and a hotel at No. 19, Madue Nwafor Street, off Achala Ibuzo Road, Asaba, Delta State, to the Federal Government.

Qatar ruler phones Saudi crown prince about starting talks


Qatar’s ruler phoned Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to express interest in talks to resolve a three-month-old diplomatic crisis, Saudi state media said early Saturday.

The crown prince “welcomed this desire,” the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported, adding “details will be announced after Saudi Arabia reaches an agreement with UAE and Bahrain and Egypt”, the Arab bloc that cut ties with Qatar in June.

Zimbabwe registers new voters ahead of 2018 elections


President Robert Mugabe on Friday said Zimbabwe will begin compiling a new voter register next week ahead of the 2018 presidential and parliamentary elections, in which the 93-year-old is seeking to extend his 37-year hold on power.

Mugabe said in an official government notice that the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission would start registering voters on Sept. 14 and would end the process on Jan. 15.

Two female suicide bombers killed in Maiduguri – Police


The Police in Borno on Saturday said two female suicide bombers were killed when they detonated the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) strapped to their bodies in the outskirts of Maiduguri.

A statement issued and signed by DSP Isuku Victor, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), in Maiduguri, said eight people sustained injuries in the incident.

61-year-old Grandfather Caught Again for Robbery After Spending 21 Years in Jail


A 61-year-old ex-convict allegedly involved in armed robbery, car snatching and cult related activities was on Friday, paraded alongside 11 others by operatives of the Nigeria Police in Ondo State.

 Speaking while parading the suspects, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Gbenga Adeyanju, said the 61-year-old Ajibola Aliu, was recently granted amnesty by the Osun State judiciary at the Ilesa Maximum Prison after spending 21 years in jail for armed robbery.

Qatar is donating $30m to help people in Texas recover from Hurricane Harvey, its ambassador said, apparently the largest contribution from a foreign government to assist the devastated stretches of the Texas coast.
