Ex-DSS Officer Confesses to Stealing N310m from Saraki's House


A former operative of the Department of State Services (DSS), Abdulrasheed Maigari, has confessed how he stole N310 million from the house of Senate President Bukola Saraki.

He disclosed that that it was an army captain in charge of the security of the place that ordered the action.

Maigari, who is part of a kidnap gang that has been terrorising Abuja for some time now confessed that he was part of the security men who stole N310 million from the house of Sen. Saraki in 2015.

China has introduced new restrictions in the far western region of Xinjiang in what it describes as a campaign against Islamist extremism.
The measures include prohibiting “abnormally” long beards, the wearing of veils in public places and refusing to watch state television.
Xinjiang is the homeland of the Uighurs, a traditionally Muslim group who say they face discrimination.

A United States District Judge, Paul W. Grimm, has sentenced Gbenga Ogundele aka Benson Ogundele, age 58; of Laurel, Maryland to 234 months in prison, and sentenced his wife, Moji Popoola, aka Mojisola Oluwakemi Tin Popoola/Moji T. Popoola, age 42, also of Laurel, to 18 months in prison, each followed by three years of supervised release.
They were jailed for conspiracies to commit wire fraud and money laundering arising from a scheme to defraud vulnerable victims of millions of dollars. Ogundele was also convicted of aggravated identity theft in connection with the scheme.

Table tennis player slumps, dies during training


A Kwara table tennis player, Timothy Abiara, on Thursday in Ilorin slumped and died while training at the table tennis hall of the State Stadium Complex.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Abiara represented the state at both the 2011 and 2012 editions of the National Sports Festival in Port Harcourt and Lagos.

Abiara died during a game with another player, suddenly holding his chest and shouting, with those watching the game thinking he was reacting to a lost point.

Boko Haram Kidnaps 22 Girls And Women In North-East


Boko Haram Islamists have abducted 22 girls and women in two separate raids in north-east Nigeria, residents and vigilantes said.

In the first attack on Thursday, the jihadists raided the village of Pulka near the border with Cameroon where they kidnapped 18 girls.

“Boko Haram fighters from Mamman Nur camp arrived in pickup vans around 6am and seized 14 young girls aged 17 and below while residents fled into the bush,” a Pulka community leader said.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo Gets New Appointment Under Buhari


President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo as the board chairman of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

Femi Adesina, spokesman of the president, confirmed this in a statement issued on Friday.

Adesina said Mustapha Maihaja hade been appointed as the new director-general of the agency, and that other members of the NEMA board are: Babachir Lawal, secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), Talba Alkali representing the transport ministry, Rabiu Dagari, representing foreign affairs and Ngozi Azadoh representing health ministry.
