Photos: Sierra Leone pastor finds one of the world's largest uncut diamonds

A pastor has discovered one of the largest uncut diamonds in Kono district, Sierra Leone.
Pastor Emmanuel Momoh's discovery, which is yet to be valued weighs 709 carats, is now locked up in Sierra Leone's central bank in Freetown, BBC reports.
 he diamond is the biggest to be in Sierra Leone since 1970, when the 969-carat Star of Sierra Leone was dug up.

Yakubu was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a six-count charge bordering on non-disclosure of assets and fraud, charges to which he pleaded not guilty.

The immediate past Chairman of Etsako-East Local Government Council of Edo, Suleiman Afegbua, has been killed by gunmen.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Mr. Afegbua was attacked and killed in the early hours of Thursday along the Benin-Auchi road by Ogbemudia’s farm.

Letters of redundancy were issued to the affected employees during the week.
Media Consultant to the 58 year-old airline, Mr Simon Tumba, who confirmed the development in a statement issued on Thursday in Lagos, said the workers would be paid their pension and gratuity.

The Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the temporary forfeiture of N1.8 billion allegedly diverted from the coffers of the Nigerian Navy by a former Chief of Naval Staff, Dele Ezeoba.
The court gave the forfeiture order following an application by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, pursuant to Section 17 of the Advanced Fee Fraud Act 2006.
Joined in the suit as defendants are Chukwuka Onwuchekwa and Aquila Leasing Ltd.

A Federal High Court in Abuja has dashed the hopes of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to field a candidate in the Anambra Central senatorial district election as it dismissed a suit brought by Sharon Ikeazor seeking to compel the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to accept her as a substitute to Dr. Chris Ngige.

Ikeazor had dragged the INEC before Justice Anwuli Chikere, asking the court to compel the electoral umpire to accept her as the candidate of the party in place of Ngige who had withdrawn from the election.

Sebeshi Zacharia Mojela, a security guard allegedly stabbed his 29-year-old girlfriend to death in Commissioner Street, South Africa on February 27. He was charged with murder.

"She apparently kept begging him not to kill her mom and kept saying, 'No daddy, stop killing mommy," said family friend, Raele Labani.

A Florida man who was accused of killing his 2-month-old son by stuffing a sock in his mouth will spend the rest of his life behind bars.

27-year-old Gene Anthony Quinones-Rivera  had initially pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder charges, but changed his plea to no contest on Monday, according to court records obtained by PEOPLE. A judge sentenced him to life in prison without parole.

Further hearing of the case involving former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has been declined by Justice Muslim Hassan of the Federal Court, Lagos.

"This court will decline hearing this case further and refer the case to the chief judge of this honourable court." the judge said. 

Mr. Fani-Kayode was facing a N4.7 billion money laundering charge before Mr. Hassan.

Letter Bomb Explodes At IMF Building In France

A letter bomb exploded at the International Monetary Fund office in Paris early Thursday, lightly injuring one person, police said.

Speaking to reporters, Paris police chief Michel Cadot said the device was sent by post and the small explosion was probably cause by a homemade device. He said there had been telephone threats made to the IMF, but it’s not clear whether they were linked to Thursday’s incident.

It is unclear who sent the homemade explosive, which was like a "big firecracker" and sent by regular mail, Cadot said.

Couple remanded in prison for bathing acid on husband's mistress

A couple, Mr. Chidi Ubochianjonjo and Mrs. Nkiru Ubochianjonjo have been remanded by an Igbosere Magistrate’s Court for allegedly bathing a businesswoman, Ogochukwu Nwosu, with a substance suspected to be acid.

The magistrate, Mrs. J.O. Adepoju, said due to the severity of the injuries sustained by the victim and the weight of the charges, the two defendants should be remanded in custody pending the release of legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.

Emotions ran high, yesterday, at White Sands area of Isheri-Osun, Lagos, following a startling revelation by a teenager of how he lured a three-year-old child to a Muslim cleric, popularly called Alfa, who then killed him. 

The 15-year-old suspect, a primary six pupil, stated that the cleric, Kazeem Alimson, paid him N500 to lure the victim to a designated point, from where she was taken away to be killed.
