Russia has boosted security ahead of the Confederations Cup tournament which begins on June 17.
The two-week tournament, which features world champions Germany and European champions Portugal, will showcase four of Russia’s 12 World Cup venues.

The Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg, on Tuesday received Nigeria’s Lola Omolola, founder of a private Facebook group called Female in Nigeria.

FIN was founded in 2015 by Ms. Omolola, as a movement of women focused on building compassion and providing support for one another, with the goal of having up to 1000 members in the group.

Dammy Krane released from prison


Nigerian singer , Dammy Krane , has been released from a US jail after meeting his bail conditions , set at $ 7 , 500 .

The singer , who was earlier arrested for credit card fraud, pleaded not guilty to the charges and demanded a trial by jury and also chose the option of a waiver pre -trial conference .

Police have arrested a Nigerian man for allegedly raping a 22-year-old Indonesian tourist in Siem Reap, a resort town in Cambodia.

The suspect identified as Nyong John ESIN, born on March 29 1979 in Oron, Akwa Ibom. He has been living in Siem Reap since 2015.

Nigerian man stabbed to death on a train in Canada, suspect arrested


46-year-old Nigerian father of three and nursing student, Nicholas Ozoechi Nwonye was stabbed to death in Canada, an attack the police say was random and unprovoked.

Nwonye was on his way home from Hersak’s lecture hall when the deadly attack took place, at 6:45 p.m. on the westbound platform of the City Hall LRT station in downtown Calgary last Friday night, June 2.

Suleiman Isah (24) and Musa Mohammed (31), both natives of Ankpa, were arrested on May 29 at Ninth Mile, Enugu State, and Ayinba in Kogi.

2 Notorious Kidnappers Arrested By The Police


Men of the Nigeria Police have arrested two wanted notorious kidnappers in Kogi State.

The police had launched a manhunt for the duo of 24-year-old Suleiman Isah and Musa Mohammed, 31, both natives of Ankpa LGA of Kogi State, after they allegedly abducted one Jibrin Idris, an Islamic scholar and the chief Imam at Enabo in Ankpa District.

Federal High Court, Abuja, on Tuesday, discharged a Boko Haram suspect, Usman Abubakar, who was arraigned alongside six others on terrorism charges.
 
Abubakar, the 6th defendant, was allegedly involved in the abduction of seven foreigners from a construction site in Bauchi, who were taken to Sambisa Forest, in Borno, where they were murdered in February 2013.

A few wealthy Nigerians spent at least $225 million acquiring private jets between March 2010 and March 2011, according to a report by Forbes.
 
The report which quoted another report published by the Punch Newspaper, revealed that other Nigerian billionaires like Aliko Dangote and Mike Adenuga also acquired private jets for themselves.
 
While Dangote acquired a US$45 million Bombardier jet as a gift to himself on his 53rd birthday, Mike Adenuga purchased a Bombardier Global Express XRS. Both Dangote and Adenuga own at least two private planes each, the report noted.

The number of billionaires in Africa--and the size of their fortunes--continues to drop. On this year's list, FORBES is only including African billionaires living in Africa, instead of featuring Africa's 50 richest people. There are 21 billionaires on this year’s list, worth a combined $70 billion. On the November 2015 Africa Rich List, there were 23 African billionaires worth a combined $79.8 billion. That in turn was down from 28 African billionaires in 2014.
