Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, on Friday in Ado Ekiti, said he would become the next president of Nigeria.

The governor, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, boasted that he had the attributes to wrestle power from the President Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressives Congress in 2019.

Bank chiefs on trial for $166m fraud

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), has arraigned two bank chiefs for an alleged fraud of $166m before the Federal High Court in Lagos.

The accused are Simon Akinteye and Gabriel Adepoju.

Police arrest Man in Possession of fresh Human Skull in Lagos

Officers of the Lagos state Police Command have arrested a 45-year-old man, Lucien Tosume suspected to be a ritualist, for possessing a human skull.

Tosume was arrested on June 4 2017 following an intelligence report in Iraye village, Sagamu local government area of Ogun state.

According to ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole, Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, the suspect who specializes in the sale of human skull, was accosted by police officers who disguised as buyers.

Woman finds out she's pregnant after giving birth on sidewalk

Every once in a while, we hear stories about women who didn’t know they were pregnant until really late in the game — sometimes not until they were in labor. But one woman in Massachusetts was so unaware that she was pregnant and in labor that she ended up giving birth this week on the sidewalk.

Boston-area TV station WCVB-TV reports that Christine Harvey told her boyfriend, Doug Rogers, on Monday that she was having severe cramps.

 The cramps were so bad that Harvey arranged for a friend to take her to the hospital but while she was waiting on the sidewalk for her friend to arrive, she gave birth to a 6-pound, 6-ounce baby girl.

27-Year Old Arrested For Raping Physically Challenged Lady

A 27-year-old man, Michael Ubani, who allegedly raped and stole from a 19-year-old physically challenged girl, was on Thursday remanded in the Kirikiri Prison, Lagos State.

The Magistrate, Mr. M. A. Etti, who gave the ruling at an Apapa Magistrates’ Court, said the accused should remain in custody pending when his bail application would be considered.

The accused, who resides at Olodi Apapa area of Apapa, Lagos, pleaded not guilty to a three-count of rape, assault, and stealing.

7 people killed and 66 injured in an explosion near a kindergarten in China

According to CCTV, at least seven people were killed and 66 were injured, including children, in a blast near a kindergarten in eastern China today.

Two people died at the scene and five died at the hospital while Nine others are in serious condition. No children or teachers are among the dead.

The estranged wife of incoming Lesotho Prime Minister Thomas Thabane was shot dead this morning, just two days before his inauguration. The 58-year-old was traveling home with a friend when both women were shot by an unknown assailant, the police say. 

APC Expels Embattled Lawmaker, Abdulmumin Jibrin

The embattled member of the Federal House of Representatives, Abdulmumin Jibrin, has been expelled by the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) chapter in Bebeji local government area of Kano state.

 

Chairman of the party in the local government, Sani Ranka, reacted that the drastic action taken on the lawmaker was as a result of an alleged anti-party activities by Jibrin.
