Photos: Woman Hides Phone Inside Soup To Get It To Her Remanded Lover


There was a mild drama at the Ibara Prisons, Abeokuta, on Wednesday, when a middle-aged woman, Fatima Balogun, was arrested by the operatives of the Nigerian Prisons for hiding a mobile phone wrapped in a cellophane inside a soup prepared for her boyfriend who was remanded in the Prison.

Tribune Online gathered that Balogun was arrested at the entrance into the Prison yard while attempting to smuggle the phone into the prison.

Appeal Court backs seizure of Tompolo’s properties By EFCC


The Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos on Thursday dismissed an appeal filed by Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo , seeking to set aside the decision of the Federal High Court, Lagos which empowered the EFCC to seize all the properties belonging to the ex-militant.

Justice I. N. Buba of the Federal High Court, Lagos, had on February 19, 2016 made an order seizing Tompolo’s properties for failure to appear to answer the charges against him.

FORMER spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Olisa Metuh says he did not intend to humiliate ex-President Goodluck Jonathan by compelling him to testify as defence witness in his trial.

A former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, on Thursday said Nigeria was almost achieving self sufficiency in rice production in 1979 before he quit as the military Head of state, saying,  the regime of the Second Republic president, Alhaji Shehu Shagari, which succeeded him  scuttled the strides .

Australia Deputy PM Disqualified From Office


Australian Deputy PM Barnaby Joyce and four other politicians were wrongly elected because they held dual citizenship, a court has ruled.

The High Court of Australia decision means three of the politicians, including Mr Joyce, are disqualified from office. The others quit in July.

Girl tortured for eating children’s food by pregnant housewife


For cutting a 10-year-old girl identified as Blessing with a knife in the hand for allegedly stealing and eating food meant for her children, a pregnant housewife, Juliet Ozoarinze has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command.  her children.

It was gathered that before her arrest over the incident that occurred in Ijesha, Surulere area of Lagos State, the mother of four had always assaulted the victim since she started living with her family in July 2017. Punch reports that she assaulted Blessing over allegations of being tardy in running errands, not being prompt in answering summons and practicing witchcraft.

Nigerian businessman charged in connection with US$27m Citibank fraud in Singapore


45-year-old Nigerian man Paul Gabriel Amos, who had previously been charged in a United States court for swindling Citibank was charged in a district court, Singapore on Wednesday, October 25 with laundering S$1.7 million.

On October last year, Amos went viral after he was arrested for reckless and dangerous driving.

23-year old stabbed to death by her boyfriend in S.A


A 23-year-old Lebogang Lamola has been stabbed to death by her boyfriend in S.A. The late Lamola's body was discovered with multiple stab wounds in Seshego, South Africa on Monday, 24 October.

According to Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe, the body of Lamola was found by her mother.



"The 23-year-old deceased was left alone at home yesterday in the morning and at about 17:30, when the mother came back, she was found lying dead in her bedroom with multiple stab wounds throughout her body. It is suspected that she might have been killed by her boyfriend," said Ngoepe.

"The matter was reported to the Police who reacted swiftly and started with their initial investigations which revealed that the suspected boyfriend has left a suicide note at the crime scene before he fled," Ngoepe added.
