Real Madrid still want to sell Sami Khedira to Arsenal despite Bayern Munich making a cheeky bid to poach the Germany midfielder.
Madrid have already accepted an offer from Arsenal for the 27-year-old, but his switch to the Gunners has stalled over wage demands.
Bayern Munich have now entered the race after holding talks with the player, but they want to steal him away for free when his contract expires at the end of next season.
Marca reports that Madrid want to sell Khedira this summer in order to make some money on him, meaning a sale to Arsenal is the preferred choice.
It’s not clear whether Madrid would be willing to drop their asking price to help persuade Arsenal to close the transfer, but Real risk losing £24million if Khedira stays beyond this summer.
Indeed, all the suggestions are that if he doesn’t leave now, he’ll move to Bayern for free next term, with the German club set to scoop revenge following Toni Kroos’ forced transfer to Madrid.
Arsenal are yet to respond to Khedira since his offered to drop his £150,000-a-week wage demands to £134,000-a-week, but are still thought to hold an interest.
