Akarigbo stool not for sale, prince warns Remo kingmakers

As the race for the seat of the Akarigbo, the paramount traditional ruler of Remo land in Sagamu, Ogun State, intensifies, a prominent prince of the Torungbuwa Ruling House, Alhaji Kasimu Nurudeen, has warned that the coveted royal stool is not for sale.
Nurudeen stated that the throne, which became vacant last year following the death of the last Akarigbo, Oba Michael Adeniyi Sonariwo, was not available for any moneybag or politician in the area to purchase.

He said this while speaking with our correspondent in Sagamu. Torungbuwa is the ruling house to produce the next occupant of the Akarigbo royal stool, but there have been speculations that some powerful kingmakers may set aside the rule to pick a candidate for the coveted royal stool.
Nurudeen, however, raised the alarm following reports that a billionaire business mogul in the area had allegedly been making moves to use his connection and money to turn the table and impose his 82-year-old friend on the Remo people.
According to leaflets being circulated in Sagamu, the business mogul is being accused of promising each of the kingmakers N10million and one SUV vehicle, if they could do his bidding.
Nurudeen has, therefore, urged the kingmakers to maintain their integrity and refrain from dragging their names and reputation through the mud.
