Bayern Munich have announced they will trigger their option to sign Kingsley Coman from Juventus permanently.
Coman, 20, who is in the second season of a two-year loan spell with Bayern, will sign a contract until 2020.
“He is a player with huge potential,” Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said. We’re convinced that he will be of great help to us in the coming years.”
In November, Bayern coach Carlo Ancelotti confirmed he intended to sign Coman permanently, with Bayern having secured an option to do that for €21 million at the end of the season.
“Coman’s future is with Bayern,” he said. “We are all counting a lot on him. There’s no chance of him returning to Juve.”
Last summer Coman had already spoken of his intention to extend his time at Bayern when he said: “I would like to stay. When I arrived, it was my intention to stay for a longer period. Bayern Munich are one of the best teams in the world and I want to play here for many, many years.”
In his first season at the club Coman won the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal and helped Bayern reach the Champions League semifinals under Pep Guardiola.
Following defeats against Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League and DFB Pokal the only silverware Bayern can win this season is the Bundesliga.
Coman has previously won league titles with Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus and was part of the France squad that finished as runners-up at Euro 2016.
