No contact from France boss Didier Deschamps – Benzema

No contact from France boss Didier Deschamps – Benzema

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has said France coach Didier Deschamps has not been in touch since he demanded “explanations” for his extended international exile.
Benzema, 28, has not played for France since October 2015 after being charged with conspiracy to blackmail as part of an investigation into an alleged extortion attempt on international teammate Mathieu Valbuena.

He was left out of Deschamps’ Euro 2016 squad as a result and hit out at the decision, accusing him of “bowing to the pressure of a racist part of France.”
After being left out of the squad for last month’s World Cup qualifier against Luxembourg, Benzema said he felt his absence was “unfair because I have not had explanations.”
Following Madrid’s Champions League win at Bayern Munich in Munich on Wednesday, he told Canal Plus that: “I haven’t had a call.
“As I said, I continue my work in Madrid, especially as the end of the season is exciting, with big matches coming up.
“It’s up to me to put in some great performances with my club.”
Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice as Madrid overcame a 1-0 half-time deficit to win 2-1 in Germany, but Benzema said he felt they could have triumphed by more after the sending off of Javi Martinez.
He said: “It’s a good result, but we mustn’t get carried away. I think we could have score more goals.
“When they had the red card, there was a lot of space. We wanted to get one or two more goals, but you have to be careful, control the game, and we did that with long periods of possession.
“But we have to settle for the result, because it’s difficult to win against this team.”
