A son reportedly stabbed his father to death because he forgot to add fish sauce to his pork soup.
Sakdin Duangphakhon, 36, first became angry when his father Ngor, 65, boiled the meat too slowly at their home in Buriram, Thailand.
He confronted him, and then flew into a rage when his dad told him he had forgotten to add fish sauce.
Sakdinon grabbed an empty bottle and hit his father over the head, before slapping his 66-year-old mother Pa when she tried to intervene.
Pa ran for help while her son launched a brutal and frenzied attack on Ngor with a kitchen knife on Thursday morning.
When police arrived, they found Sakdin lying calmly in a hammock in front of the family home, covered in his father’s blood.
Deputy Inspector Col Nitipat Kitichartchai said: ‘The father volunteered to cook the pork.
The son went to drink some liquor and then wanted to eat the food. But the dad said it was not finished, not cooked yet and it will not be delicious if they eat now.
‘The son did not want to wait. Then he said he forgot the fish sauce and he became angry.’
Sakdin, who has two brothers, has admitted murder and has been sent to Amphore Nangrong prison in Buriram to await sentencing.
