Wolverhampton Wanderers join Cameroon’s Aboubakar chase

Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly joined the race for in demand Cameroon attacker Vincent Aboubakar.
Aboubakar is being sought after by sides across the world’s top leagues after scoring 18 goals in 38 appearances for Besiktas while on loan from Porto last campaign.

Despite his impressive figures, Aboubakar remains nowhere near the tactical plans of Porto although he still has a year left on a contract he signed in 2014.
Besiktas had an option to retain the 25-year-old on permanent basis but were reluctant to pay Porto’s asking price.
Newcastle United, Marseille and Rennes have all been pursuing the Indomitable Lions forward and will now welcome a new rival in the race for his capture.
Aboubakar could not carry over his impressive domestic form onto international level though as he led a blunt Cameroon attack in their dismal Confederations Cup campaign in Russia recently.
The attacker started all three matches for Hugo Broos’ men and scored one goal.
English publication, the72.co.uk reported that Wolves’ financial backing from their Chinese consortium will see them compete for huge transfers in the market and Aboubakar is one of the two high profile players -after Benfica’s Helder Costa- who have been linked with Nuno Santo’s revolutionised side.
