Soldiers arrest 7 people as villagers and herdsmen clash in Plateau state Lailasnews (1)

Troops of 3 Division Garrison Jos Plateau State arrested 7 suspects and recovered weapons in the clash between Miango community and herdsmen at Rafiki Village on Wednesday 14 March 2018. The troops responded to distress calls to the clash reported by locals.

As troops moved in to settle the dispute, the herdsmen opened fire on troops convoy. 2 soldiers paid the supreme price. 7 suspects were arrested in connection with the clashes. While conducting a search, troops discovered 23 dead bodies at Mararaba Dare shortly before Rafiki Village and many civilians were wounded.


According to Vanguard, 2 other soldiers wounded are receiving medical attention at 3 Division Military Hospital and Medical Services. They are stable. Weapons recovered include one Ak 47 assault rifle with 26 rounds of 7.62mm special and One locally made single barrel loaded with 15 rounds.

On Tuesday, the mass burial of victims killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen in several communities in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State was disrupted by a fresh attack which left 26 persons dead.

The victims were later given a mass burial at Nzhruvoh village of Miango District. During the latest attack which took place around 7 pm on Monday, 11 houses were also razed down.


The Fulani terrorists were alleged to have killed 25 persons, including three children and two women in Dundu Village of Kwall District in Bassa LGA of Plateau State.

One girl, whose identity was not known as of press time, was said to have died later in the hospital.

The spokesperson for the Miango Youth Development Association, Lawrence Zongo, confirmed the casualty figure in an interview in Jos on Tuesday.

He said,

“Very sad! Again, Fulani terrorists killed 25 persons in Dundu Village of Kwall District in Bassa LGA of Plateau State. One girl later died in the hospital. Eleven houses were razed down. The villagers were attacked around 7pm yesterday (Monday). Among the victims were three children and two women. Others, including two women are now receiving treatment in a nearby hospital in the community. One girl later died in the hospital, making it 26 victims. This is too bad as we are planning for a mass burial of the last attack. So far, we have more than 500 in Internally Displaced Persons camp. The international organisations should please come to our aid.”
