Bungling US Bank Robber's $20,000 Slip Up

A series of blunders helped police capture a hapless bank robber as he attempted to escape with more than $20,000 (£12,000). Firstly he dropped the loot on the floor of the bank in Maryland.

He then took up valuable time collecting the cash into an upturned umbrella he found on the floor. After eventually making his getaway, he slipped on ice and cut his head open. Still he managed to make it to the getaway car - but all the delays caught up with him as police managed to stop the vehicle and make the arrest.

According to the Baltimore Sun, 42-year-old Robert C Williams was charged with robbery. A mugshot released by the Laurel Police Department showed him with a bandage on his head.
