Churches And Mosques To Start Paying Tax Because They Are Making A Lot Of Money- Confab
For a very long time, the debate whether religious groups should pay tax has been going on but it always favour those who said that churches and mosques should not pay tax.
At the on-going National Conference, delegates had voted that henceforth every church and mosque in Nigeria should start paying tax to the government.

The delegates also agreed that the Federal and State governments should stop sponsoring both Christian and Muslim pilgrimages to Jerusalem and Mecca respectively.
This was agreed upon during the discussions of reports of the Religion Committee.
The reason for this is because a lot of religious are making a lot of money and the committee wants them to be taxed.

The issue of some pastors making a lot of money came up too and some delegates spoke at length on the burning issue.
Isaac Ighure, a delegate representing the Nigeria Guild of Editors said “some people buy private jets when people in their churches are suffering and living in abject poverty, they should be made to pay taxes.”
