Schumacher out of coma six months after ski accident

Michael Schumacher is out of his coma and has left his hospital in Grenoble.
The Formula One legend has been in intensive care since suffering a serious head injuring in a ski accident back in December 2013.

An official statement read:
‘Michael has left the CHU Grenoble to continue his long period of rehabilitation. He is no longer in a coma.
‘His family would like to expressly thank all physicians, nurses, doctors and therapists in Grenoble, as with the first responders at the scene, who have done an excellent job in these first months.
‘The thanks of the family also goes to all the people who have sent Michael so many good wishes. You have certainly helped him.
‘Going forward, we ask for your understanding that his further rehabilitation should take place outside of the public.’
The German, 45, is understood to be communicating with his wife and children, and was considered stable enough to no longer need the help of specialists in Grenoble.
