Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Netherlands left-back Daley Blind this summer.
The 24-year-old Ajax man shone during the Oranje’s 5-1 thrashing of World and European champions Spain in Salvador on Friday – grabbing two assists against La Roja.
With Netherlands manager Louis van Gaal set to take over at United once the World Cup ends, The Sunday Mirror have reported that the 62-year-old could make a £12m move for the Dutch Footballer of the Year.
Blind is the son of Holland’s legendary sweeper Danny – Van Gaal’s assistant – and started his career as a left back before being turned into a defensive midfielder at Ajax.
While the transfer may surprise some Red Devils fans considering that the club are close to securing the signature of Southampton left-back Luke Shaw, versatile Blind could provide much-needed reinforcement to United’s midfield should Ajax decide to cash in on the talent this summer.
