Vermaelen 'begs Arsenal to let him join Man United'

Arsenal v Hull City - FA Cup Final

Arsenal captain Thomas Vermaelen has reportedly begged the club to let him move to rivals Manchester United this summer.
Vermaelen, who is entering the final year of his Gunners deal, has emerged as a surprise target for new United boss Louis van Gaal.

The Red Devils are keen on luring him to Old Trafford for a bargain price, and now reports in Holland say the defender has begged Arsenal not to stand in his way.
He is believed to have told manager Arsene Wenger that he does not want to remain at the club after being dropped last term, and is hopeful an agreement can be done with United.
Vermaelen would likely be used as a utility player at United but he is keen to make the switch to link up with former team-mate Robin van Persie.
Arsenal are thought to want up to £10million for the centre back.
