Thugs attacks Police Minister in Osun

Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Abdul Jelili Adesiyan, was yesterday night attacked by peoples suspected to be thugs in Gbongan, Ayedaade Local Government Area of Osun State.
The minister, who is also from the local government, was allegedly attacked when his house to house campaign train arrived Gbongan, where no fewer than ten members of the Peoples Democratic Party were severely injured.

According to the media aids to the minister, Mr Wale Akinola, some suspected thugs had first unleash terror on members of PDP in the town, who were waiting to receive the minister’s campaign train but his presence could not calm the nerves of the irate youths, whose action caused chaos in the town for more than two hours.
‎”While trying to appeal to the members of PDP to remain resolute and calm in spite of the harassment and provocation by the opposition, the minister was almost lynched by the thugs but for the rapid intervention of his security personnel who whisked him away from the scene”, he said.
The minister said, “As I was coming from Orile-Owu to Gbongan in Ayedaade Local Government, in continuation of my house to house campaign for the re-election of Mr. President, members of our party were brutalised by the thugs in Gbongan. As I was pleading to our party members to be law abiding and allow law to take its due course, my immediate younger brother’s wife who is on our campaign train was matcheted and she is in the hospital as I speak now.
“The thugs blocked the road and they insisted that they won’t allow me to pass and they were shooting sporadically before my security personned chased them away.
“I want to let the whole world know that desipte that PDP is committed to Abuja Peace Accord the opposition in Osun State is bent on scuttling the Saturday election but I believe the good people of the state would not allow it to happen”.
One of the victim, said that they were holding a meeting in one of their leaders’ house when the thugs bombarded and began beating and macheting them.
He said, “We were holding a meeting when they bombarded us with cutlass and cudgel and some us were severely injured. ‎I don’t know where know where they took others who were also injured but I was told that an elderly woman who was stabbed in the head is in coma”.
