Games between Flamengo and Vasco da Gama, dubbed the Classico dos Milhoes, are usually fierce affairs, and the latest instalment in the Campeonato Carioca lived up to such billing.
It was the hosts who won the game 2-1 courtesy of an Alecsandro double, but arguably the major talking point of the local derby came late on when the referee sent off not one, two or three – but FOUR players at the same time.
This was after a cynical foul led to an almighty ruckus between the two sides.
And this is the proper stuff of handbags too, with substitutes running on the pitch to get involved and everything.
Once tempers had cooled, Flamengo’s Paulinho and Anderson Pico, along with Vasco’s Bernardo and captain Pablo Guinazu were given their marching orders.
And doesn’t the referee look proud as he repeatedly holds that big shiny red card aloft.
