Bloody Clash Averted at Assemblies of God's Church Headquarters as North East Zone Begs IGP for 'Help'

A bloody clash was last Friday averted by the police after Dr. Okoroafor invaded the National headquarters of the church to take possession after a Supreme Court judgement.

The Assemblies of God’s Church Nigeria, North East Zone, has urged the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to restrain Dr. Chidi Okoroafor from parading himself as the authentic General Superintendent of the Church to avoid breach of peace in the country, Daily Sun reports.

This was made public by the Executive Council member and Spokesman of the Church in the North East Zone, Rev. Istifanus Ishaya on Monday,  during a press conference at the Jos Mainland district of the Church.

According to him, since the judgement of the Supreme Court did not authenticate Dr. Okoroafor as leader of the Church, rather it upheld the judgement of the Appeal Court which said Dr. Okoroafor was not properly served at the address stipulated by the Court.

Rev. Ishaya said the Police averted a bloody clash, last Friday, when Dr. Okoroafor invaded the National headquarters of the church to take possession after the Supreme Court judgement.

According to Ishaya, “We are calling on the Inspector General of Police to stop Dr. Chidi Okoroafor who made attempt last Friday from invading the Headquarters of the Church in Enugu, claiming that the Supreme Court has declared him as the authentic General Superintendent of the Church.

“The Police Inspector General should demand for the Court Judgment and do what is right. He should call a spate a spate, if somebody is doing the wrong thing the security agencies should be able to tell the person you are wrong, they should stop the game of fearing human faces when it come to national security.

“As we speak, ur leaders are before the Inspector General of Police to proffer solution to the lingering crisis. We encourage the Federal Government and the security should do her best in the interest of national security, we expect them to intervene in a positive way.

“We condemn in strong terms the concocted peddled around by followers of Rev. Chidi Okoroafor that Supreme Court declared Rev. Chidi winner in the judgement of February 24, 2017 and therefore, he is the General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Nigeria.”

He condemned the speculations making round that Rev. Paul Emeka was sent packing from the official resident and and called on Dr. Chidi and his followers to come to dialogue table so as to resolve the shameful impasse that have lingered on the fabrics of the Church.
