Real Madrid president hints at Benzema-Mbappe strike force

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has hinted at the possibility of signing Monaco youngster Kylian Mbappe to form a strike partnership with French compatriot Karim Benzema.
Mbappe, 18, is one of Europe’s hottest property at the moment, and has been courted by Real previously. The Monaco forward revealed in December last year that he rejected Real and opted for Monaco, despite Zinedine Zidane’s persuasive attempts.
Real are apparently readying a €80 million bid in the offseason for Mbappe who just earned his first senior call-up to Didier Deschamps’ France national team.
“A duo of Benzema and Mbappe? Everything is possible,” Perez told RMC. “But at this time of the season, I don’t want to talk about that. We don’t talk about players of other teams.
“Right now, all we are thinking about is how to win La Liga and the Champions League.”
Perez was also quick to heap praise on Benzema, and is confident that the French striker will stay at Real for a long time.
“Karim is a mix of [Zinedine] Zidane and Ronaldo,” Perez added. “He is the best number nine in the world and the best French player.
“I am convinced that he will stay [at Madrid] and, while now we do not talk about [contract] renewals, if it was up to me, I would keep him here during his whole sporting life.
“I am very happy with Benzema and he has exemplary behaviour.”
