Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is reportedly set to reward Antonio Conte with a new £40million contract after Saturday’s FA Cup final against Arsenal.
The Italian has enjoyed a hugely successful first season at Stamford Bridge, and is closing in on the double if his Blues side can defeat Arsenal at Wembley tomorrow.
Despite strong interest and big-money approaches from Inter Milan, Conte looks set to remain with Chelsea and commit his future to the club with a contract worth £9.6million a year, according to the Daily Mirror.
This will make Conte the highest paid manager in Chelsea’s history, and signal a major show of faith from owner Abramovich, who has been through numerous managers in his 14 years in west London.
Chelsea fans will be delighted to see Conte sign on until 2021, with the 47-year-old taking the Premier League by storm in his first year in charge, storming to the title with a record-breaking 30 wins.
Conte also has the chance to follow in the footsteps of Carlo Ancelotti by guiding Chelsea to the double in just his first season in England.
