Eden Hazard has joked that his new deal could prevent Chelsea from signing Romelu Lukaku this summer.
The Belgian midfielder still has three years remaining on his current deal but the Premier League champions will be wary of interest from Real Madrid in the upcoming transfer window.
Hazard admits he has not yet been offered a new deal by Chelsea but will open talks after the club’s FA Cup final against Arsenal.
‘At this moment, there’s nothing on the table. We’re waiting for the end of the season,’ the 26-year-old told Het Nieuwsblad.
‘I’m still calm. We will talk. If not, then we’ll see.’
Asked if there’s still a chance of a move to another big European club this summer, the Belgian replied: ‘For the moment, I don’t know. I’m happy at the club.
‘When I’m back from the national team, we’ll have time to talk and see what’s possible.’
Chelsea have reportedly made the signing of Lukaku one of their priorities for the summer, and Hazard has joked that his own contract could get in the way of his Belgium team-mate’s potential return to Stamford Bridge.
‘If I sign a contract, maybe there won’t be enough money left to get Romelu!’ he said.
‘I’m kidding. Whoever comes in, we’ll be ready for the new season.’
